Goal: Healthier Diet

Hello! Today I would like to address our diet plan. Up till now our diet has consisted of pretty much eating whatever we want whenever, as long as it fit in the budget for the month. However, since I have diabetes, am overweight, and feel like our immune systems have been a little sluggish lately I would like to adjust this to being healthier. I have not figured out quite yet what our diet should look like, so until we figure out what will work best for our lifestyle (or if we need to change our lifestyle more), we will start with a lower carbohydrate diet. I think my goal in the end will b e Keto. I still want to do some research on the diet, but from what I've read so far it seems really beneficial to the natural state of how our bodies were made to work. At this point I don't think we will be able to stick to it though, so I'm going to work towards it as an idea. But until then, let's think low carb. Since this is more to benefit my personal goals and not necessari...

Goal Plan: Better household management

Good morning! I have selected Better Household management as the first goal to address here on the blog. I picked household management as the first goal to address because it has the greatest impact on our day to day life. For example, if we wake up and the kitchen is still messy from the night before, it hinders getting breakfast on the table and henceforth affects the whole day, and that's just one thing. To start with I will list out some areas where we struggle the most to write a schedule around those areas. Our problem areas- The kitchen, specifically getting dishes done on a regular basis. Vacuuming. With a soon to be crawling baby, this really needs improvement! Keeping toys picked up. Making nap time a thing. Making time for exercise and family time Other things to consider- Bible time errands learning; preschool, guitar, asl, ect meals chores hobbies; sewing, reading. Proposed schedule: Wake up 7am, get ready coffee on, read Bible 8am  breakfa...

Taking a new direction

Hello! I originally started this blog about two years ago to track the growth of my family and to help remember the places life took us. After not keeping up with posting, I have decided to take the blog in a new direction.  I'm going to take you on our journey of unhealthy living and the health conditions we face to a healthier living and hopefully getting off some medications. I'm hoping that blogging will help to keep us accountable to our goals and to help keep us on track. Our goals: To eat a healthier diet. To exercise regularly. To travel more. To grow closer as a family. To have better house management (cleaning mostly) To get organized. Make more things by hand to better our home Some specific health goals: To loose some weight. Improve heart health. Better control of my diabetes. Improve control over my thyroid disease.  Improve Memory. I'm sure some of these goals will change as the year progresses but this is our starting point. I look f...

Another Baby On The Way!

Good Morning!  It has been a crazy busy past few months, between, moving across the state,  family things, finding out we're having a baby and a bunch of doctor appointments.  We moved, Yay! Closer to good health care,  a better job, and a bigger city. Just in time to have a good place to have this baby. I think we are going to enjoy this new chapter of our life.... I would like to blog my journey as a high risk pregnancy with a toddler,  both as a way for me to keep track of all the changes we are  making and going through, and also to share with you how it is different  from a low risk pregnancy as I have now had personal experience with both.  I know this is a little early to announce pregnancy (I'm only 7 weeks),  however, I would like to blog this pregnancy as I am high risk  this time around. There are many things we have to pay attention  to this time and lifestyle changes to be made.  ...

Happy Birthday Baby!

Happy, Happy Birthday! This week my baby turned one, soon he won't want to be called baby anymore! This post I will be writing about JT's fist year and all the things he has learned as well as what I look forward to seeing him learn and our plans for the coming year. James is one, in the past year he has mastered crawling and learned to walk, he is pretty much running now, he mastered climbing the stairs and getting off the couch. He loves his blanky with the monsters on it, it goes everywhere.... He loves his morning snuggles and story time, he is learning to pick up his toys and he sometimes gets me a diaper when he needs it to be changed. He asks to be picked up and is trying to say words, he can sign please, more, and all done, he has also made his own sign for asking for something he wants (a play on the sign for want). He eats just about anything and drinks from a sippy cup. He has the cutest smile and belly laugh, he loves it when you chase him around, play peek-a-bo...

A busy week and answered prayer.

This week has been BUSY!   And when I say busy I mean; moving, planing a get-together for the weekend, harvesting, processing and canning about 50 quarts of apples (plus the many that we ate and didn't count) , processing the harvest of tomatoes, peppers, and some of the squash, truck troubles, adopting the dog from my in-laws, and taking care of my sickly baby. Moving- We have been blessed with the opportunity to take a job in a small town (just over an hour from our previous residence) , we spent about three days packing and moving stuff trying to unpack with each load we brought. Mixed into moving we realized that neglecting the garden would not be an option for the week. So, we harvested, we also picked the apples at the lake when we were there for labor day. So we are packing and moving and I have to process two milk crates of tomatoes and peppers, and two of cucumbers (thankfully I was able to give most of the cucumbers and some of the apples away!), and I ...

Our little man is nine months old!                                                                                      He got a hat from the firefighters Things my nine month old is doing.... Climbing: He climbs up things, stairs, boxes, baskets, legs, playgrounds, and whatever else he decides looks fun. Reading: He loves books! Especially touch and feel ones. He crawls around the house with them and turns pages. Standing on his own. Took one step without holding the couch. Has grown a love of music. It is almost as if he is saying mama, dada, buba (bottle)  He has cut a total seven teeth.     I am loving watching little James grow up, I lo...
