A busy week and answered prayer.

This week has been BUSY!
And when I say busy I mean; moving, planing a get-together for the weekend, harvesting, processing and canning about 50 quarts of apples (plus the many that we ate and didn't count), processing the harvest of tomatoes, peppers, and some of the squash, truck troubles, adopting the dog from my in-laws, and taking care of my sickly baby.

Moving- We have been blessed with the opportunity to take a job in a small town (just over an hour from our previous residence), we spent about three days packing and moving stuff trying to unpack with each load we brought. Mixed into moving we realized that neglecting the garden would not be an option for the week. So, we harvested, we also picked the apples at the lake when we were there for labor day. So we are packing and moving and I have to process two milk crates of tomatoes and peppers, and two of cucumbers (thankfully I was able to give most of the cucumbers and some of the apples away!), and I got to thinking how am I going to get this done? Keep in mind my husband started working at his new employer immediately. We spent many hours in the car traveling back and forth getting loads, on one of the trips, the last of course, the alternator in the truck (which we just replaced in march), started overcharging our battery so we spent the rest of the day charging then driving with no alternator, Praise the Lord my husband is a mechanic! Oh, and my son started running a fever on Tues night..... After a long week of chaos it feels like things can start to settle down, after the weekend of course. It is Friday, and I have most of the boxes unpacked, 48 quarts of apple products (apple juice, applesauce, and apple pie filling), 6 half pints of homemade hot sauce, a batch of salsa left to do, a cake to bake, and laundry to do. Family is coming tomorrow to celebrate my sons first birthday, and I foresee a long weekend ahead....

(taking a break from the move)

Over the move I got to thinking..... My son will be turning 1 next week and he has already moved 5 times!!!!  If all goes as planned we will be settled in for the longest time since I have been married to my wonderful husband of almost 2 years. I look forward to raising my family in this small town in Minnesota and possibly starting a farmstead (Lord willing).

We are now looking into where we can have a garden next year, it may be limited to container gardening.....
Either way it goes we will be happy and blessed to be able
to grow our own food.

This process has felt like a lot of work, however, this is answered prayer as we have been longing to live in a smaller town with a better job and where we could find people with good character. There is lots of children around and many job opportunities/things to do to get involved in the community, so I won't be sitting around the house all day wondering what to do with myself to keep busy. We also think we have found a church where we can go to worship and fellowship, another thing we have been praying for since it has been a year since we were able to find a church worth attending! I look forward to exploring town and getting to know more people. Praise God for this opportunity! The blessings are abundantly flowing with this new door opened!!!
