Goal Plan: Better household management

Good morning!

I have selected Better Household management as the first goal to address here on the blog.

I picked household management as the first goal to address because it has the greatest impact on our day to day life. For example, if we wake up and the kitchen is still messy from the night before, it hinders getting breakfast on the table and henceforth affects the whole day, and that's just one thing.

To start with I will list out some areas where we struggle the most to write a schedule around those areas.

Our problem areas-
  • The kitchen, specifically getting dishes done on a regular basis.
  • Vacuuming. With a soon to be crawling baby, this really needs improvement!
  • Keeping toys picked up.
  • Making nap time a thing.
  • Making time for exercise and family time
Other things to consider-
  • Bible time
  • errands
  • learning; preschool, guitar, asl, ect
  • meals
  • chores
  • hobbies; sewing, reading.
Proposed schedule:
  • Wake up 7am, get ready
  • coffee on, read Bible
  • 8am  breakfast, then clean up right away!
  • time for reading/ learning something or play time/exercise?
  • 10am errands (if needed) or hobbies
  • 12pm lunch, then clean up right away
  • Vacuum, other chores that need to be completed
  • play or do a learning activity
  • 2:30 clean up toys, get ready for nap time
  • 3pm nap time
  • Mom gets to do things on the computer (blog, manage etsy, read emails)
  • 5pm start supper
  • 5:45 supper on the table, eat and clean up right away
  • after supper make sure kitchen is cleaned well and ready for the next day
  • then Family time/ time for husband to complete his projects if needed
  • 7:30 bath and bedtime routine
  • 8:15 kids in bed
  • Adult time until bed
I think this will make a good starting schedule and I plan to stick to this for at least a week and then make changes where necessary. It obviously is not going to work for every day since we have company a few day out of the week, but hopefully this will help align nearly all the goals on our list to become attainable, as right now we feel in such disarray that nothing appears reachable. We also need to come up with a morning and bed time routine as well as nap time routine. Being home all the time has led us to get completely off any kind of schedule, and I believe this to be one major root to all of difficulties right now. I plan to post an update with how this schedule worked as well as the changes made. Also maybe a varied schedule for each day that is different? Once we can get a rough schedule down I think we will work on organization to make daily life easier and a healthier meal plan as well.

Well that's all for now, until next time,
Have A Blessed Day!
